The 2013 edition of the MacBook Air saw an upgrade to the Haswell processors, significantly increasing battery life from previous models. Along with an upgrade to 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a faster PCI Express storage system made the MacBook Air a compelling purchase for consumers. But a new report from MacGeneration has cited that a refreshed version of the MacBook Air could launch as early as next week. The update will be applicable to the current 11″ and 13″ models, and will most likely be a small upgrade to the current offering. We expect a possible processor upgrade, but we are uncertain what Apple will implement if this rumour does prove to be true. This update however will not be the major upgrade that is potentially being released later this year. The bigger upgrade would include a new 12″ model, as well as a new design, a redesigned trackpad, retina display, as well as a fanless design. This major update would happen in the 3rd quarter of this year along with an upgrade on the MacBook Pro.
