You miss Google Maps in iOS 6? So do we. But there is a quick fix on how to get your Google Maps back, without jailbreaking. It’s a good solution for now until Google will release a version for iOS hopefully. And keep in mind, it is not an app, but a quick solution.
First off, open SAFARI, and type in the address maps.google.com, or the respective top-level domain in your country.
You may be asked to use your current location. I suggest you allow it for easier searching when using directions.
Once it loads, go to the share button on your browser. The icon is a rectangular box with an arrow pointing to the right. Simply click on it, and then on the screen, press Add to Home Screen. Tap it, and it will be added to your Home Screen.
From there, you can do the normal features of Google Maps, and will have most of the features in what was offered in previous version of iOS. You can get bus routes (YES!), directions, and search up business and locations. However, there is lack of street view, which is a huge downside for me. It’s also a bit laggy compared to the original iOS version. However, if you really want Google Maps and want to ditch the terrible Apple Maps, this is the best solution as of right now.
Are you going to use this, or will you live with Apple Maps for the time being? I want to hear your thoughts. Comment below with your opinion. And visit us on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ for the latest tech news, reviews and updates.
