Vancouver Hotel Integrates iPhones, Replacing Landline Phones

Source: (opushotel.com/blog)

Imagine, going to your hotel room, and finding and iPhone instead of the common landline phone. Well that’s what visitors are going to get at the Opus Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with the iPhone, it will also feature an iPad in each room. With the integration of these Apple devices, the Opus Hotel will become the first hotel in Canada to offer iPads and iPhones in every room, and will be integrated by the end of July 2012.

Goodbye Standard Hotel Phone is the header on their blog post introducing the addition of iPhones within each room. It’s interesting to see how a local hotel is integrating these devices. Each phone includes telephone numbers and apps that may be useful for the visitor, and will erase all personal customer data when they check out. And the iPhone and iPad is included in the cost of the hotel.

“Technology is a way of life these days, not just a perk,  and that holds true even while traveling.   To be clear, contrary to any speculation or rumors you may hear, we are not renaming our property Apple Hotel.”

The only downside I see to this integration is the cost to the visitor if the iPhone is lost or damaged. There is no doubt that this issue will arise, and will be interesting to see how a hotel would deal with this. But I can see many hotels taking a similar action in the near future.

So what are your thoughts on this? Would you go to a hotel that offers an iOS device? Leave them in the comments below. And visit us on FacebookTwitter, and Google+  for the latest tech news, reviews and updates.
