Today, Apple unrelieved their new iPad at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Notable features is new cameras, a new chip, plus
quad core dual-core processing, and quad-core graphics. Apple also said that they sold 15.4 million iPads in the last quarter, and that’s quite a lot of iPads.
The first new feature is a new retina display, 2048×1536 pixels to be exact. It’s 3.1 million pixels, the most ever in a mobile device. Phil Schiller said, “This presents a problem for us in presenting it to you. For the first time an iPad has a higher resolution than this entire display behind you… That’s a fun challenge.” In fact, this display is higher than an HDTV. So of course with a higher display, it means that Apple can do HD video recording. Another feature was the iSight camera, which is a 5-megapixel backside illuminated sensor on the back, 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip. The next feature is 4G LTE. This is a feature we were all waiting for, and necessary to compete with the upcoming tablets. It will be available on AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, Telus and Bell.
The full iLife suite has come to the iPad now also. iWork has some new 3D effects, apparently with 3D text and transitions. Garage Band for iPad and iOS now has smart strings, a note editor, and iCloud integration. iMovie has a huge upgrade with movie trailers, storyboards, and editing chops. iPhoto has also come to the iPad, and can edit for up for 19 megapixels. Now that’s a lot of pixels!
Pricing for the new iPad is $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB. So what’s your opinion on this new iPad? Tell me your thoughts below.
