For the past few months, many have speculated a new iPad coming up in the fall for the holiday season. Now according to sources, the iPad 3 will not come out this year.
According to sources within Apple’s supply chain partners, Apple has cancelled its supply schedule for the iPad 3 in the second half of 2011 because of production constraints for higher-resolution display panels.
According to Apple Insider, some of the major reasons for the cancellation is because Apple partners Samsung Electronics and LG Display have been unable to reach adequate production levels. Also, the iPad is set to be slimmer, and can’t support the rich colour displays.
Due to iPad 3’s requirements over the physical thinness, rich color support and toughness will all conflict with the panel’s technology restrictions; therefore, this could cause a delay in the launch.
I think this might delay might be good for Apple. The iPad 2 is very successful right now with sales growing 183% in the 3rd quarter of 2011. That means they sold 9.25 million iPads. They are taking up a ton of the tablet consumer market.
