Coming up next month will be the Apple Special Event. What can we expect…here’s what I think. Definitely new iPods will be released. I believe a new nano, shuffle and touch will come out. There is a good chance that the iPhone 5 will be released, a new iTunes (iTunes 11 most likely), and possibly a new iPad. Definitely they will release the anticipated iOS 5 and iCloud service. Here is a complete break down of what to expect.
People are always guessing the day of the keynote. In 2010 it was September 1st, a Wednesday. In 2009, it was September 9th, also a Wednesday. In 2008, it was September 9th, a Tuesday. Rumours say it will be on September 5th, the 5 coming from iPhone 5. This could be realistic. Some say September 7th. I say no because they would not put a keynote on a weekend.
Possibly the iPhone 5 will be released in this keynote. It was delayed from June due to the Japan earthquake and tsunami. I read that the plant of the manufacturer was partly destroyed delaying the iPhone. So this could be a very realistic release. Like I said in my last post, the iPhone could have a bigger screen, bigger home button and an aluminium backing. For a complete breakdown, click here.
New iPods will be released I can guarantee. There will definitely be a new iPod touch. If the iPhone leaked images are true, most likely the iPod will have a bigger screen and a the oval home button. I believe the iPod will become slimmer. Also a new Nano might be released. Rumours say there will be a camera, but only 1.3 megapixel. If it’s only that powerful, I wouldn’t get it. I also heard that this maybe also replace the shuffle, as it is almost the same size.
There is also speculation of a new iPad. I heard that this will feature better cameras. I do not think it will have the bigger screen and oval home button as shown in the iPhone 5 possible leaked images. This iPad is focused more towards business use. Possibly next year it will feature the bigger screen and oval home button if true.
I also believe the newest version of iTunes will come up. According to Macrumours.com, it will have a completely new design to compliment the new iCloud service next month. They also reported you will be able to read books within iTunes. For some more information, I recommend this link. Click here.
Rather than the iTunes Store being essentially a web browser, the Store will actually be integrated into the entire app— much like Spotify is currently.
Also, on the same day of the keynote, iCloud and iOS 5 will most likely be released. They believe Apple will do a quick reminder of the features. But all will be said when the keynote happens next month. When it happens, I will do a breakdown of the keynote here on Jordan’s Tech Stop.
