Firefox 5

Firefox 5 was just released on June 21 of 2011. This came out faster than Firefox 4, but there isn’t much of a difference. There are a few new notable features though. And some good and bad.

The Good:
Firefox 4 introduced a new feature, the menu bar. This keeps on through Firefox 5, which I enjoy very much. I also like the personas, which add a look to your Firefox. Also, the app tabs is a nice feature that was introduced in Firefox 4, but the “tab” didn’t always stay. Also panorama is a nice addition too. I’ll explain these in this review.

The BAD:
One weakness is finding the “update” button. This was confusing at first, but I found it under here. Go to Menu Bar -> Help -> About Firefox. Then, it will update automatically if there are any. Other than that, I really like Firefox.

App Tab:
Is there a webpage you ALWAYS go to? Why not make it an app tab. App tabs take the favicon (that small 16×16 pxl image on the tab), and make it accessible any time by just clicking on it. Even if you close your browser, when you open it, it will still be there. In order to do this, on your TAB of the webpage you desire, right click on it. Then press, Pin as App Tab. Easy  huh?

Panorama:
Panorama is a feature that allows you to view all your current tabs in one window, and make it a group. For more information, go here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups.

Overall, good job by Mozilla making up the wait time for Firefox 4. This update just adds on the 2 extra features, and stability. Of course, you can always add skins and personas to jazz up your Firefox.

My rating:
9/10
